President Duterte Visits Dumaguete

The Philippine President Rodrigo Duterte personally visited and awarded the fallen men of the Guihulngan Ambush, which occurred on July 21. He also visited the wounded survivors of the ambush to give financial assistance and the Wounded Personnel Medal.

Duterte Visits the Killed

The president arrived in Dumaguete at around 5:30 pm at the Dumaguete-Sibulan Airport on July 27, 2017. He then rode his presidential chopper to reach the grieving families of the fallen police men. Duterte placed the medals on the coffins assisted by Philippine National Police Chief Director General Ronald Dela Rosa.

Support for their Families

President Rodrigo Duterte extended his support by giving financial and scholarship assistance to the families of the policemen. Duterte assured that the children of the slain cops will be enrolled in the 4P’s conditional cash transfer program and will receive Php 1,500 monthly allowance. The windows, on the other hand. will have job opportunities and an allowance of Php 250,00 to start a business and another Php2500 from Duterte’s personal money plus rice.

Duterte Visits to the Wounded

After his visit to the slain policemen and their families, Duterte rode his chopper back to Dumaguete to visit the wounded survivors of the said ambush. At around 8:00 pm he arrived at Silliman University Medical Center Foundation Inc., where the crowd cheered for him and his party.

Duterte spent time as well with the families of the wounded survivors. After then, he personally handed the three survivors with the Philippine National Police Wounded Personnel Medal and his financial support of Php 100,00 for each policeman.

The president’s short visit in Dumaguete City and Negros Oriental ended by a closed-door command conference before leaving from Dumaguete-Sibulan Airport to Manila.
