New Infantry “Masaligan” Battalion commander

A challenge on peace offers were given to the incoming commander of the 79th Infantry “Masaligan” Battalion by the Brig. Gen. Harold Cabreros, who is the commanding general of the 3rd Infantry Division of the Philippine Army.

During Brig. Gen. Harold Cabreros’ visit, he was given the great honor to speak during the79th Infantry “Masaligan” Battalion commander turnover to the new Lt. Col. Roderick Garcia. The turnover was held at the battalion headquarters in Camp Leon Kilat, Tanjay City.

The turning over

During the turning over of honors and titles, the Brig. Gen. Harold Cabreros included in his message his thanks to Colonel Pascua for his achievements during his terms as battalion commander. He said that he admires how Negros Oriental changed over the past few terms Colonel Pascua has been commanding into.

General Harold Cabreros also encouraged the new Lt. Colonel Garcia by saying that he will do just as well as other former colonels have. With lots of training, experience, and responsibility as commander of the 79th Infantry “Masaligan” Battalion, Lt. Colonel Garcia will surely surpass and achieve great change in our community.

Peace Efforts?

“First order of the day for Lt. Colonel Garcia is to continue what his predecessor had started, more importantly pursuing efforts under the Armed Forces of the Philippines’ Internal Peace and Security Plan Bayanihan,” said General Cabreros.

As a suggestion for the coming year as commander, General Cabreros mentioned on the peace efforts of the province. He said that everything must start with the “big letter O” which is Obedience.

“Observe obedience to the oath you took when you entered the military service to selflessly serve our country and our people”, Cabreros said.

In order to have peace all over the province and the country, we people must follow and obey rules set before us.
