Blue Whale in Negros Oriental

The endangered species blue whale known as ‘Balaneoptera Muculus’ appeared in the ocean of Southern Negros Oriental for three days onward starting last Monday. The whale was spotted near the shore between Dauin town, Bacong town and Dumaguete city.

Awareness for Blue Whale

The government authorities together with the environmentalists in Dumaguete City have informed people living there to be aware of the blue whale presence and do not try to perform any threat that may cause harm to the whale and also cause disturbance for the appointed representatives to documenting the whale’s activities daily. It can also effect the safeness of the blue whale itself.

The authorities have been spreading the news by giving flyers that contain information about the blue whale and also guidelines for certain activities such as sight-seeing.
